How do I know when I need new brakes?
To know when you need new brakes, you can do these - look and listen. To check for wear, look at your brake pads through the spaces between the wheel's spokes. The outside pad will be pressed against a metal rotor and there should be at least ¼ inch of pad. If you see the pad to be less than ¼ inch, then you should have your brake pads inspected or changed. If you regularly hear a high-pitched screeching sound when you apply your brake, then you should also make an appointment with your service advisor.
When should I replace my brake pads?
It is time to change your brake pads when the lining is in the 3mm to 4mm range. Brake pads also incorporate a metal burr that contacts the rotor at 3mm which causes a squeal that signals that you need to have your brake pads replaced.
How long will brake pads last?
Most brake pads typically last between 48,280 km to 112,654 kilometers.
