This is something you have all been patiently waiting for. Honda has announced a refresh for the 2019 Honda Civic and it feels like a long wait since the debut of the 10th generation Civic back in late 2015. Of course, not all the models hit the showroom floors at the same time. The long-awaited hatchback, iconic Si, and the legendary Civic Type R arrived on dealer lots a couple of years later. Fast forward and Honda has now announced a refresh for 2019.

Let us start off by talking about the styling of the Civic. There are some noticeable differences between the 2018 and 2019 models. Honda has announced that the front bumper is the biggest change regarding the styling. You will notice that they have gotten rid of the chrome on the front bumper. That piece of chrome has been changed to black to add a more elegant design. The bottom of the bumper has the most noticeable change with a new front splitter and the vents have become one piece instead of three separate ones. Other differences are the chrome side pod accents and an update on some of the headlights. All these alterations seem like a subtle change, but I can assure you once you compare the refresh model with the current one, there are some noticeable changes. We had to leave the best news for last. The best new design feature that is going to be added to the Civic line-up is something that has been missing located in the interior.

The biggest makeover for the 2019 Civic is the addition of a new trim level. For 2019, Honda is introducing the Honda Civic Sport. The Honda Civic Sport is to be set between the LX trim and the EX trim. The Sport trim level is going to get some aggressive styling changes compared to the other models. The Sport will have some wheels that look like the Si and the Hatchback Sport. There is also going to be a unique exhaust set up for the Civic Sport. It is going to be borrowing the look from the current 2017 and 2018 Honda Civic Si. Under the hood will be a 2.0L four-cylinder engine matted to a 6-speed manual or a CVT.

There is no information on pricing just yet. Honda will be announcing the prices closer to the launch date.

Let's recap. The refreshed 2019 Honda Civic is getting some cosmetic changes made to the front and rear bumpers. The volume knob is coming back! There is also a new trim level going to be added called the Civic Sport available in both sedan and coupe. With these few updates, the Honda Civic should remain Canada's top selling car. Pricing is also still to be determined closer to the release date.
